Venn Diagram

Sometimes there are fawns. Sometimes there are horses. Occasionally, they overlap.

Baking Powdeer

Whaddya' know? It's some triple stag action for your Monday.

Again, there's not much to add. It's been a really busy month.

Fawn with Rabbit Ears

Yeah, this one is really ridiculous. But I can't stop laughing!

You should know that as soon as the studio gets set up, this one is *totally* going to become a print!

Lava Lamp

Personally, I can't stand lava lamps. But if you'd like to make one of your own, here's a video.

How to Avoid Hartburn

Run. Run really fast to the right.

Stag King

Today's image is a deer take on the rat king. To be honest, I'd rather find this in an abandoned lot instead of a bunch of tangled rats. I mean, I know it's a cryptozoolgical thing but ick.

Ah, cell division. When is it not good for punning?

Buck Rogers

Long time readers of mine will know of my love for Fred Rogers.

I have to tell you, waking up in my own house certainly makes it seem like a beautiful day in the neighborhood! (Sorry, I promise to stop talking about the house soon!)

Stag Beetle

Jenn, this one's for you!

Sunday, June 21, 2009

This ladybug video is very springlike if very brief.

Anyway, it's time that I started unpacking MY HOUSE! I can't believe I just typed those two words!

Yeast Doe

One great thing about our new kitchen is that I'll *finally* have room to make bread. I've already bought a huge container of yeast. Hooray!

Manilla Fawnvelope

Can you believe the random video that showed up when I did a search for manilla envelope? (It takes until a little after 1:30 to figure out why it's tagged with "manilla envelope".)

A Special Thank You to Chotda!

My friend Chotda is awesome. I can give you several examples of her incredibleness but today, I'm just going to let you see the fabric that she mailed me as a housewarming present!

Isn't it beautiful?!? THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH, CHOTDA!!!

Deerhunter: Sleepytime

Before my move, my favorite Grockette sent me a link to a stag bag!

Don't get me wrong, bunnies are nice but for me, it's got to be the deer.

Have you seen any deer lately? Made any yourself? Email me at rakkadeer [at] gmail [dot] come and I might feature your photos!

Chili Powdeer

This could alternately be called a smokey doe. Heh heh. Yeah, that was bad.

Deerhunter: Ring-a-Ding-Ding!

My favorite Ray pointed me in the direction of this lovely Haute Macabre post about deer rings!

Please make sure to click through to Haute Macabre post for the links to the rings above. They're all really fabulous! (Thanks, Ray!)

Continuing with the condiment theme from yesterday, here's a deer made from mayo or "maydoe".

Deerhunter: Portland Edition!

Today's Deerhunter is special because it was sent to me by my friend from college Jenn!

Jenn's a talented artist with a great eye (I wish that I could link to her portfolio so you could see for yourself!) so when she says she likes Portland based Berkley Illustration, you know that it's got to be good!

Thanks so much for the tip, Jenn!

It's kinda like Col. Mustard in the living room with a candle stick only, you know, not at all.

If there's one thing that I wish we could have at our house, it's a beehive. For now, however, I'll have to make do by watching the life cycle of bees and eating honey.

One thing that really irks me about the Seattle area is the lack of WGN. I really enjoy watching my Cubbies lose and I haven't been able to do that for years.

Imho, this video shows smokestacks at their best.

Ice Cold!

Today's deer is an embroidery that will be in the "Fiber Arctic" show opening tonight from 6p-9p at Schmancy!

I'll try to make it to the opening but Leff and I are settling ourselves and the cats into our new home (!!!)(man, I'll never get tired of saying that!).

More show info is here.

On Autopilot for a Few Days

Hey, kiddos! Today is the day that we, barring any unforeseen weirdness, close on and then start moving into our house! Hooray!!!!

I'll be without a home internet connection from the 11th until the 16th. YoDeer is set to autopost during that time so you won't be missing a daily deer. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to respond to email, etc during the internet outage.

If you'd like to see what I'm up to, I'll be posting via mobile to my twitter account. I might also throw a few cameraphone images up on my Flickr account as well. But if you *really* need to get in touch with me, text me. If I'm not in the middle of painting the stairs, I'll get back to you.

Bremerton, here we come!

Staggy Side Up

If you think the deer version of a sunny side up egg is goofy, you should check out this commercial.

Bish Plz

While this is nowhere near as educational as the "Electric Company" segment that it is based on, it still makes me laugh my butt off.

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

Today's deer is a quick one since we're signing papers on our house this morning and have to take the 6 am ferry! Hooray! ZZZZZZZ!

Suntan Doetion

It's true, I haven't really needed to use suntan lotion for too many days so far this year. Here's hoping that summer decides to show up and stay. *Fingers crossed*

What kind of birdhouse do you like better? The skate deck variety or the chirpy kind?

Doelan Mills

Look, Olan Mills will always make me laugh. Want to see some great real life examples? Click here.. I'm particularly fond of "The Damned".

Friday, June 5, 2009

I hadn't heard of Helicopter until after I made this deer. It's a perfect band for Leff. So, uh, Leff! Happy Early Bday?

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Can you find the deer in this picture? I'll give you a hint. It's not in the eye.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

I'm terrified of anglerfish. I know, I know, it's entirely irrational but try watching this video. I'll bet you get creeped out too!

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Just as the birdie led to tree rings, the tree rings have now led to roots.

Although, not my roots. I dyed my hair the other day. (*ba doom ching!* Thank you, Cleveland! I'll be here all week!)

Tree Rings

Yesterday's birdie made me think about where other kinds of birdies might live. Which, naturally, led to growth rings. You know, even though birds don't live *inside* of trees...
